Role: Business Analyst – Securities Post Trade IT
Overview:
Highlights of department:
The Global Banking and Markets customer group comprises our main business lines – Corporate and Institutional Banking, Global Investment Banking, Global Markets and Global Transaction Banking.
Securities Post Trade is responsible for the middle office and settlement systems for the Cash Equities and Debt Securities globally.
Purpose of the job: To work with the business and other members of the IT department to specify, test and implement IT solutions.

Staff in this area responsible for acting as the primary interface between a business unit (e.g. Operations, Finance, Trading) and technology for requirements gathering and management of small projects.

Incumbents identify business unit requirements and process specifications in order to work with the project manager to identify / develop the best solution for the business.
Responsible For:
Working closely with the business to capture their implicit as well as their explicit needs and ensuring they are well understood and addressed by the technical solutions
• Assisting the users in defining, gathering and clearly documenting their requirements, using Bank-standard templates, according to standard project life cycle methodologies and working with the HSBC guidelines for Business Analysts.
• Validating documented requirements with all stakeholders.
• Assisting in the translation user requirements to appropriate IT plans and solutions.
• Review potential solutions with business representatives to select most appropriate.
• Assisting in the day to day project management by providing regular updates and managing small projects.
• Building good working relationships with other IT departments and relevant business areas.
• Train users in new solutions where required.
• Work with the Users to develop appropriate test cases.
• The day to day running of the UAT testing.
• Provide support to the business throughout the UAT process.
• Investigating and resolving (where appropriate) issues / concerns raised by users.
• Assisting in the resolution of cross system issues with other IT groups.

• Excellent financial business (debt and equities securities processing) knowledge.
• Delivery-focussed - to produce accurate estimates for workload and deliver to agreed deadlines and standards. Understanding customer requirements and concerns and exceeding their expectations.

• Excellent analysis and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and to contribute to a larger team; and a flexible approach to working hours and responsibilities
• Ability to communicate, influence and negotiate effectively with third party consultants, technical experts across the whole department and, most importantly, business users.
• Impeccable written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills
• Willingness to own work and problems and see through to completion and to use own initiative to resolve issues. Robust character able to deal with a diverse range of people.
• Self-motivation and a proven rapid learning capability in a changing environment are essential.
• Ability to pay attention to detail and distinguish between the subtleties of the securities markets around the globe
• Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
• Ability to work in a matrixed organization with competing demands
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

• Business Analysis Experience on small/medium/large-scale IT projects and/or programmes in Investment Banking.
• Experience with both in-house developments and third-party products
• Exposure to global initiatives/projects/programmes
• A background that includes expertise in analysis methodology
• A background in system development lifecycle methodology techniques and documentation.
• Proven record of delivery in a change management project
