One of the most important functions for Private Wealth Management (PWM) is the calculation and processing of fees. The Billing System within PWM Technology is responsible for interfacing with multiple PWM subsystems to retrieve customer information and financial market data in order to compute portfolio market value and calculate investment management fees, custody fees, and banking fees.
The current Billing system is built on Sybase and uses Perl and C++. The next generation of Billing System is being built on DB2 for Linux and Java, and it will have a workflow-based user interface. The new system will leverage Java technologies such as Hibernate and JMS to maximize performance, scalability, flexibility and reliability.
The Billing team is aggressively developing the next generation Billing system and continues to support the legacy system.
Role Summary:
The candidate will be have an opportunity to work on the web-based user interface as well as server-side components for the new Billing system.
The candidate will be required to learn the existing system quickly and assist with support.
The candidate must have good Java and relational database knowledge.
The candidate must be a team player but must also have the analytical ability to work independently to investigate problems and propose solutions.
The candidate must have excellent communication skills and must be comfortable interacting with non-technical clients.
Principal Responsibilities:
Hands-on development and analysis
Production support
Participate in design reviews
Respond in a timely manner to users requests, answer user questions and propose solutions.
Experience/ Skills:
1 or more years of relational Database experience, e.g. UDB/DB2 or Sybase (required)
1 or more years of Java application development (required)
1 or more years of web-based user interface development (required)
Strong analytical and communication skills (required)
1 or more years of Perl in a Unix development environment preferred
Basic business knowledge of investment management preferred
