The Global Client Trading and eCommerce team supports GSAM Shareholder Services and Sales teams globally. The group needs to hire a senior Java/Linux/Sybase developer in NY who will be responsible for development and maintenance of existing client facing web application, the backend database and client interfaces. In addition to supporting the existing application, the person will also be involved in building the newer version of the platform.
The team supports transfer agent and investment center functions of GSAM business by providing an investment platform to institutional clients and a suite of back office applications for shareholder services groups internally. The core product called Global Cash Portal is used by institutional clients globally to manage their cash investments in GSAM Money Market Mutual funds. The portal utilizes latest industry technologies and outperforms other competing industry platforms by providing a secure front office solution as well as complete transparency into back office processing to the clients.
The role involves learning current support procedures and architecture of the existing Global Cash Services platform and participate in ongoing functional and infrastructure related enhancements to the system. The person will also be involved in development and rollout of the new platform which will replace Global Cash Services platform in 2009. The position offers opportunity to work with GSAM distribution business groups and IT teams globally, learn latest technologies and development/testing methodologies.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participate in full business analysis and development life cycle of multiple projects
Production support of the current platform
Work with business to analyze requirements
Support testing and obtain user sign-offs for system changes
Contribute to development effort of the new platform by learning about the proposed architecture and development framework
Experience/Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Java, JSP, Tomcat, HTML, XML, Database Design, Sybase/UDB on UNIX/Linux
At least 8 years of development experience using above technologies
Business Analysis skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good people and client skills
Financial industry experience a big plus
