Director of Nursing
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Nursing develops and maintains nursing service goals, objectives, and standards of nursing practice, adheres to staffing plans, and develops Nursing Department policies and procedures. The Director of Nursing is responsible for organizing, developing, and directing nursing services and ensuring the deliverance of quality nursing care. The Director of Nursing is actively involved in department activities, transdisciplinary team activities, and hospital activities to ensure individualized, patient-centered health care for all patient populations admitted to Specialty Hospital.
Patient Population:
Has contact with patients in a clinical setting, understands and demonstrates appropriate behavior when interacting with patients in the adult (18-65 years of age) and geriatric (65 and older) populations.
SUPERVISION
Directs the activities and personnel of the Nursing Department.
EXPERIENCE
Five (5) to seven (7) years of nursing experience in an acute clinical environment including clinical management experience. Three (3) years of critical care or comparable experience is preferred.Two years of management experience.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree, or combination of an Associate's degree in an approved Registered Nurse program and meaningful and appropriate experience.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
Current RN licensure in the state where currently practicing, Current BLS and ACLS is required. The Director of Nursing must maintain a current Registered Nurse licensure, BLS and ACLS certifications while employed with the hospital.
