Our client, a mission-driven community organization focused on violence prevention, restorative justice, and youth empowerment is seeking an ATI Social Worker / Therapeutic Counselor to support court-involved youth and young adults throughout New York City. This role combines counseling, case management, advocacy, and mentorship to help participants navigate trauma, mental health challenges, and systemic barriers while avoiding further justice involvement. Ideal candidates are passionate about community-based work, trauma-informed care, and creating meaningful pathways for long-term stability and growth.


Location: Bronx & Manhattan, NY

Schedule: Full-Time or Part-Time

Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000 annually


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct participant intakes, psychosocial assessments, safety assessments, and MAiSY/COMPAS evaluations
  • Provide individual counseling, therapeutic support, and small group counseling sessions for participants ages 13-30
  • Deliver services both onsite and virtually, depending on participant and program needs
  • Conduct crisis intervention, engagement field visits, and home visits as needed
  • Complete risk and needs assessments and develop individualized treatment recommendations
  • Facilitate psychoeducational and substance abuse counseling groups utilizing evidence-based approaches such as 7 Challenges - Brief
  • Develop and monitor counseling and treatment plans addressing mental health, trauma, housing, substance use, domestic violence, and vocational barriers
  • Coordinate referrals and collaborate with external providers, schools, legal teams, and community partners
  • Prepare therapeutic court letters and attend court or school case conferences when needed
  • Maintain timely case documentation and progress notes within agency databases for court reporting
  • Support outreach and participant recruitment efforts in courts, detention facilities, public housing, and community events
  • Collaborate across program sites and departments to strengthen service delivery and participant outcomes


Ideal Background

  • LMSW strongly preferred; bachelor's degree with related counseling experience may be considered
  • Experience working with court-involved youth or young adults
  • Familiarity with criminal justice systems and court professionals preferred
  • Background in mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, trauma-informed care, and adolescent development
  • Experience working with co-occurring disorders and high-risk populations
  • Strong crisis management, relationship-building, and case management skills
  • Comfortable working within a community-based, faith-based organization
  • Passion for youth advocacy, restorative justice, and violence prevention initiatives
