Position OverviewThe primary objective of this role is to fulfill the essential duties of a nurse by assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating patient care within the Emergency Room.
Essential Job Functions- Plan, prioritize, and deliver proficient nursing care that is age-specific and developmentally appropriate, utilizing advanced clinical knowledge and skills to ensure patient and family comfort and safety.
- Accurately and consistently document medical records in a clear and concise manner.
- Monitor and record signs, symptoms, and behaviors, including the physiological status of patients.
- Propose revisions to interventions and desired outcomes as necessary.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
- Follow physician orders in the provision of nursing care.
- Collect laboratory samples and conduct lab tests in accordance with established policies and regulations.
- Adhere to infection control protocols, isolation procedures, and aseptic techniques during patient care.
- Carry out admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
- Engage in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care provided.
- Prepare equipment and supplies for various diagnostic or treatment procedures; assist with or perform procedures in accordance with legal, hospital, and departmental policies, as well as established nursing standards.
- Conduct all assigned Quality Assessment activities and document findings.
- Participate in staff meetings or other mandatory company gatherings as required.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Associate’s Degree required; BSN preferred.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse without sanctions is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of full-time RN experience in an ER or comparable setting is required.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association are required; ENPC certification from ENA may substitute for PALS; TNCC is preferred.
- Fluency in English, both written and oral, is necessary.
- Pennsylvania Candidates: Must have completed Act 33 (Child Abuse History Clearance) and Act 73 (FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Clearance) within the last 5 years, or obtain them prior to the start date.
