Position Summary and Qualifications

This role involves shared management responsibilities for the Respiratory Therapy departments at our two facilities.

The position reports to the COO/Director of Outpatient Services and oversees all operational and administrative aspects of the Respiratory Therapy department.

In collaboration with administration, the manager will set objectives, develop strategic plans, establish service standards, manage budgeting, and ensure overall financial performance.

The role includes integrating and managing all aspects of the Respiratory Departments, including staffing, supervision, equipment management, purchasing, billing, charge collection, quality improvement initiatives, and staff development.

The manager will ensure compliance with all Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.

Responsibilities also include developing additional staff training, quality assurance, and outcome measurement protocols.

Tasks include interviewing and hiring, conducting employee orientations, providing computer training, and assessing staff competencies.

The manager will handle employee coaching and disciplinary actions, including terminations when necessary.

Accountability for the 24/7 operations of the Respiratory Therapy department is essential.

Evaluating new equipment and organizing in-service training sessions will also be part of the role.

Participation in committee meetings and conducting performance evaluations are required.

In times of need, the manager may also work as a staff therapist.

Responsibilities include verifying and approving payroll and invoices, as well as maintaining and drafting departmental policies and procedures.

The manager will be responsible for generating reports related to performance improvement, quality assurance, and outcome measurements, as well as submitting expense and capital budgets.

Compliance with CAP regulations is required, and the manager may provide care for patients across various age groups, from neonates to geriatrics. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. A Bachelor of Science degree is strongly preferred.

Licensure/Certifications: Must hold a license as a Respiratory Therapist from the relevant state board and be registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care as an RRT. BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, as well as NRP certification, are required upon hire.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as an RRT in an acute care setting is required, with 2 years of supervisory or management experience preferred. Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to make independent decisions are essential. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
