Job Opportunity: Executive Vice Chair of Dermatology

Our organization is on the lookout for a full-time Executive Vice Chair (EVC) to join the Department of Dermatology. This senior leadership position offers a remarkable chance to influence and guide one of the largest and most prominent dermatology departments globally.

The Dermatology department merges the strengths of two leading hospitals into a cohesive and integrated unit. The EVC will be instrumental in this evolution, helping to establish a new paradigm for academic dermatology that enhances excellence in patient care, research, education, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with the Chair to develop and implement departmental strategies.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at cross-campus integration and major strategic projects.
  • Act as a representative of the department in institutional leadership discussions across the organization.
  • Provide mentorship and support to Vice Chairs, Division Chiefs, and faculty leaders.
  • Drive special projects that further the department's clinical, research, and educational objectives.
  • Step in for the Chair when necessary, depending on academic rank and appropriateness.
Qualifications

We are seeking an exceptional academic dermatologist with a national reputation for excellence and a proven track record of leadership in complex organizations. The ideal candidate will be a distinguished clinician, educator, and/or researcher, as well as a skilled builder capable of operating at scale, navigating complexities, and fostering alignment across a diverse organization.

  • Candidates must hold board certification in dermatology.
  • Eligibility for appointment at Harvard Medical School at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, based on experience and achievements.
  • Teaching responsibilities will include engaging with HMS learners, such as medical students, residents, fellows, and/or HMS faculty.
