Position Overview:
This role involves planning, coordinating, and delivering care to adult patients within the Interventional Radiology department. The focus is on ensuring high-quality care is administered safely and efficiently, adhering to the unit's care standards while demonstrating the necessary clinical competencies.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Act as a circulator, scrub, or monitor within the Interventional Radiology procedure team.
- Prepare patients appropriately for procedures, ensuring timely access to necessary information such as history and physical (H&P).
- Utilize critical judgment to assess patients and administer medications, particularly for critically ill individuals, while promptly reporting any abnormalities to the physician.
- Safely perform hemostasis with or without vascular devices.
- Regularly enter patient orders and charges, verifying their accuracy.
- Provide care for critically ill patients, demonstrating the ability to operate independently in high-pressure situations.
- Educate patients and their families based on assessed needs, document the education provided, and keep them informed about tests and treatments. Offer clear instructions regarding what to expect during perioperative procedures.
- Assist families in navigating to the cardiology or cath lab areas as needed.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.
EXPERIENCE
- No prior experience is necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequent verbal communication to convey information.
- Constant standing and walking required.
- Regular lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
- Regular use of vision for near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, including color differentiation.
- Frequent olfactory recognition for detecting odors.
- Regular auditory communication to receive information and identify sounds such as alarms or machinery malfunctions.
- Occasional lifting of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional patient handling and movement.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive movements of the legs and arms.
- Occasional driving may be required.
- Rarely involves crawling or running.

- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
