Nurse Manager
The Nurse Manager has the authority, responsibility, and accountability for the overall operations and patient care provided in the department. This individual displays competence in the 5 core health care competencies of interdisciplinary team work, quality improvement, evidence based practice, patient focused care and informatics. Responsibilities include organizational planning, compliance with regulatory standards, fiscal management, setting and maintaining standards of nursing care and practice, coordinating services, and providing for the professional growth of staff. This individual serves as a clinical resource for nurses and has a responsibility for monitoring/assessing clinical practice, guiding the development of standards of care and practice, and counseling/educating staff when practice deviates from standards.
The individual in this role will interface with patients, families, staff, external agencies such as Emergency Medical Services (EMS), departments across the organization and the network, as well as nursing leadership and quality teams across the network.
