Position Overview

The Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing orientation and ongoing education for facility staff. This role also encompasses the responsibilities of the Infection Prevention/Control Coordinator, which includes designing systems and approving measures to prevent, control, and monitor infection reports among residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate learning needs and create in-service and continuing education programs based on quality assurance data to fulfill regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, communicate, and assess an annual training plan.
  • Create tailored teaching plans and programs to address training needs for all roles on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to ensure that quality care meets the highest standards and that all facility policies and procedures are adhered to by staff.
  • This position requires on-call availability.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing is preferred, along with a background in infection control.
  • A current CPR certification is desirable.
