Licensed Mental Health Counselor - Remote with Medina Counseling Center

Medina Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team in a full-time remote capacity. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality therapeutic services to individuals, couples, families, and groups. Your focus will be on facilitating mental wellness and personal growth through assessment, individualized treatment planning, and collaborative interventions. This position offers competitive compensation ranging from USD 80,000 to 100,000 annually, accompanied by a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

• Conduct comprehensive initial assessments, including mental health evaluations and psychosocial histories, to guide effective treatment planning.


• Develop tailored intervention and recovery plans based on each client’s unique needs, goals, and therapeutic progress.


• Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, employing evidence-based techniques to promote healing and growth.


• Monitor and document client progress throughout treatment, ensuring accurate records in our electronic health record system, preferably AVATAR.


• Collaborate with other mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, medical doctors, and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.


• Identify and address barriers to recovery, offering strategies to clients and support to family members and caregivers.


• Provide case management and referral services, assisting clients in accessing additional resources as needed.

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Medina Counseling Center, you will work with a diverse client population experiencing a range of mental health challenges. This includes individuals dealing with anxiety disorders, depression, trauma-related issues, and adjustment difficulties, as well as families navigating relational conflicts and couples seeking pre-marital or marital counseling. Your role will significantly impact these clients’ overall well-being, guiding them toward improved mental health and healthier life choices.

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.


• Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW in the state of California.


• Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE).


• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, specifically AVATAR or similar platforms.


• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective client interactions and documentation.

• Experience working as a mental health counselor in a community health setting is highly desirable.


• Familiarity with addiction disorders and the implications of physical health on mental well-being.


• Knowledge of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices and ethical standards.


• Understanding the impact of prescribed medications on behavioral health.


• Experience conducting psychotherapy sessions utilizing various therapeutic modalities.
