Position Summary: The Advocacy Manager is responsible for coordinating and advancing the interests of echocardiography as it intersects with federal and regulatory policy. This full time, exempt position provides expertise to ASE committees, members, and staff on medical workplace issues and compliance with cardiovascular ultrasound quality or AMA standards. It proactively anticipates, compiles and responds to members’ coding/reimbursement issues, quality and accreditation standards, legislative and regulatory activity, practice management, and related needs and concerns. This position creates and coordinates communications on the cardiovascular ultrasound field to help members and other stakeholders understand emerging issues. It works to help equip members to use successful practices by learning, leveraging best lab practices, participating in coalition and grassroots advocacy efforts, and providing written updates and training resources on the evolving practice environment. This position also supports ASE’s representation at the AMA House of Delegates. This position will report to the Director of Advocacy and has potential for a remote work schedule, however, occasional meetings in Washington, DC and travel to ASE’s Durham, NC office may be required. We offer a competitive salary range of $76,000–$79,000 USD for this position, with starting compensation based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications. Candidates must live in one of the following states to be considered for employment: NC, SC, VA, MD, DC, GA, WV, or TN.

General Administrative:
Travel: Domestic travel to ASE and other policy related meetings will be required for this position (3-4 meetings a year).
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate degree in healthcare administration, public health or related field preferred.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years demonstrated prior experience representing medical associations or practices, or working in the advocacy, communications, health policy, coding or regulatory area of an association. Experience working in non-profit medical environments with volunteers is preferred.
Specific Skills/Knowledge:
Physical Requirements: Job requires frequent sitting, and repetitive hand and wrist movements. Business travel requires the ability to endure the rigors of air travel, being on one’s feet for long hours, as well as reaching and the ability to lift at least 15-25 pounds.
