Position: Event Manager

Location: Chicago, IL (in-office 5 days/week)

Compensation: $70k-$80k Base Salary + Benefits

Our client is a labor union representing tens of thousands of members across the Midwest. They're hiring an Event Manager to centralize event logistics and travel coordination. This is a pure execution role, converting instructions from leadership into fully booked travel, secured venues, and managed on-the-ground event details. It's not a strategic role; it requires someone who can independently and reliably execute high volumes of clearly defined logistics tasks.

Key responsibilities include:

· Plan and execute event logistics end-to-end, from venue outreach through on-site execution

· Conduct venue walkthroughs and negotiate Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)

· Manage on-site logistics for multi-day events (space, catering, signage, vendors)

· Support events from small meetings to gatherings of several hundred

· Book and manage individual and group travel, including recurring training travel, trade show logistics, and occasional international trips

· Secure hotel room blocks and distribute booking links to attendees

· Build and maintain vendor/venue relationships; negotiate rates and contracts

· Serve as central point of contact for cross-departmental logistics requests

· Manage travel/event budgets, reconcile invoices, and maintain booking records

We are looking for someone with the following experience:

· Strong execution skills; able to follow instructions with minimal supervision

· Background in hospitality, hotels, or event coordination preferred

· Comfortable managing high-volume logistics across multiple events and stakeholders

· Union-friendly and comfortable in a labor union environment

· Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
