Job Description

Position Description: Systems Engineer

The IT Systems Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, securing, and improving Insite's internal technology ecosystem. This role serves as the primary technical point of contact for our IT vendors and platform providers, and will play a hands-on role in engineering new solutions as the company's needs evolve. This is an individual contributor role reporting directly to the Director of Security Technology, ideal for someone who enjoys owning a diverse stack end-to-end and working independently in a hybrid office environment.

Insite's Security Technology team currently supports internal IT as a secondary function alongside their primary client-facing work. This role, IT systems engineering is the primary function, with the opportunity to support client-facing physical security technology projects as a secondary function when bandwidth allows. Candidates who bring both skill sets are especially valuable, but not a requirement for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain the health, security, and performance of Insite's core technology ecosystem, including Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Exchange Online, Intune), Jamf MDM, Meraki networking, Slack, Zoom/Zoom Phone, Smartsheet, and Druva inSync backup.

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison to IT vendors and platform providers, managing support tickets, escalations, license renewals, and roadmap conversations.

  • Design, test, and implement new tools, integrations, and automations that improve efficiency and security across the environment.

  • Manage identity and access administration in Microsoft Entra ID, including conditional access policies, SSO/SCIM configuration, and lifecycle management (onboarding/offboarding).

  • Own corporate and BYOD endpoint management and compliance across Windows, macOS, Android, and IOS fleets via Intune and Jamf, including patching, configuration profiles, and security baselines.

  • Maintain network infrastructure managed through Meraki (switches, wireless, security appliances) across office and remote sites.

  • Ensure data protection and business continuity through Druva inSync backup administration, monitoring, and recovery testing.

  • Administer collaboration and communication platforms (Slack, Zoom, Zoom Phone, Smartsheet), including provisioning, permissions, and workflow configuration.

  • Document systems, configurations, and standard operating procedures to support consistency and knowledge continuity.

  • Monitor for security vulnerabilities and compliance gaps across the environment and recommend remediation.

  • Provide tier 2/3 technical support and act as an escalation point for internal IT issues.

  • Assist the Director in handling ad-hoc technology requests and projects as required

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 3-6 years of experience in a systems engineer, systems administrator, or IT infrastructure role.

  • Hands-on administration experience with Microsoft 365, including SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, and Intune.

  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including conditional access, SSO, and identity lifecycle management.

  • Experience administering Jamf (or comparable Apple MDM) and Meraki (or comparable cloud-managed networking).

  • Familiarity with SaaS collaboration platforms (Slack, Zoom, Smartsheet) at an administrative level.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across identity, endpoint, network, and cloud application layers.

  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment and communicate clearly with a distributed team.

  • Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with Druva inSync or another enterprise SaaS/endpoint backup platform.

  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator, Modern Desktop Administrator, or Security Administrator Associate; Jamf Certified Associate; or Cisco Meraki certifications.

  • Experience supporting a professional services or consulting firm environment in a remote role.

  • Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell, Graph API, or similar) to streamline recurring administrative tasks.

  • Strong documentation habits and a proactive approach to identifying and closing gaps.

  • Exposure to security frameworks or compliance requirements relevant to professional services firms.

  • Understanding of physical security physical access control systems and video management systems
