Quality Assurance Chemist

Role Description The Quality Assurance Chemist is a full-time, on-site role located in Crystal Lake, IL. This role is responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet established quality standards and specifications. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment, documenting test results, investigating non-conformances, and supporting root-cause analysis for quality issues. The Quality Assurance Chemist collaborates with production, R&D, and sales to implement quality assurance procedures, support continuous improvement initiatives, and uphold ISO:9001 or customer-mandated requirements. The role also involves preparing reports, updating quality documentation, and contributing to the development and validation of new or modified formulations.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Quality Control and Quality Assurance skills, including experience with testing protocols and specification review.


• Candidates should possess practical Laboratory Skills and Analytical Skills for conducting chemical analyses, interpreting data, and troubleshooting results.


• Candidates should possess knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and related regulatory or industry standards.


• Relevant qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field, or equivalent experience in a manufacturing laboratory environment.


• Beneficial skills include attention to detail, strong documentation and organizational abilities, effective communication with cross-functional teams, and familiarity with safety practices in chemical manufacturing.


• Experience in coatings, adhesives, or fire retardant formulations, as well as prior work in a quality-focused manufacturing setting, is a plus.
