Position Summary


We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager with a strong legal background to join our Human Resources team. This role is responsible for managing employee relations matters across the country with a strategic, legally sound approach, ensuring compliance with employment laws while fostering a positive and productive workplace culture. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of multi-state employment law, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a passion for resolving complex workplace issues.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, investigations, and performance management.

  • Conduct thorough, impartial internal investigations into complaints related to workplace conduct, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and policy violations, including witness interviews, evidence review, and written findings.

  • Advise managers and HR regional managers on complex employee relations issues, including progressive discipline and corrective action, ensuring alignment with organizational values and legal requirements.

  • Draft and review documentation such as disciplinary letters, investigation summaries, and separation agreements.

  • Monitor changes in employment law and HR regulations; provide proactive guidance and training to HR teams and leadership.

  • Collaborate with Legal Counsel on high-risk cases, litigation support, or regulatory inquiries, including agency charges and position statements.

  • Develop and implement employee relations policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure legal compliance and promote best practices.

  • Track trends in ER issues, maintain case records, generate reports, and make data-driven recommendations to improve workplace culture and mitigate risk.

  • Drive and support a fair and equitable employee relations practice.


Qualifications and Educational Requirements



  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in employee relations, or employment law.

  • Strong knowledge of federal, multi-state, and local employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, ADEA).

  • Experience conducting complex workplace investigations and managing sensitive employee issues.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism.


Preferred Skills



  • JD (Juris Doctor) or advanced legal education strongly preferred.

  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) a plus.

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.

  • Experience supporting a multi-state workforce and using case management or HRIS tools to track ER matters.
