Senior Data Engineer - Financial Services & Insurance (Direct Hire/FTE)

Location: United States (Remote with up to 50% Travel to Columbia, MO)

Position Type: Direct Hire / Permanent Placement (NO C2C. This is a full time hire for our client)

Our client specializes in delivering complex, sector-focused strategy and transformation programs for the financial services, asset management, and insurance industries.

We are seeking innovative data engineering professionals to join their fast-growing practice. In this role, you will act as a strategic consultant, directly engaging with top-tier insurance clients to design, implement, and optimize scalable data architectures and pipelines that solve unique business challenges.

What You Will Do:

Data Architecture & Pipeline Design: Build, implement, and maintain robust data pipelines, integration solutions, and overall data architecture.

Snowflake Optimization: Leverage deep expertise in Snowflake to drive efficient data ingestion, scalable storage, performance tuning, and robust security.

Strategic Problem Solving: Collect and analyze complex data, formulate hypotheses, and present actionable recommendations to senior client stakeholders.

Client Transformation: Play a proactive role in driving strategic programs forward, mapping business processes, and delivering solutions tailored to the insurance market.

What We Are Looking For:

Experience: 5-7+ years of proven experience as a Data Engineer, ideally with a background in consulting or an 'in-house' business analyst/engineering role within a leading financial institution.

Technical Stack:

Recent, hands-on expertise with Snowflake and DBT (DBTLabs).

Proficiency in Qlik Replicate, Qlik Compose, Github, and Astronomer for integration, replication, and transformation.

Solid programming skills in SQL and scripting languages like Python or PowerShell for automation.

Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS or Azure).

Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing, data modeling, data quality, and data lifecycle management. Experience within the financial services or insurance industry is highly preferred.

Consulting Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities. You must be comfortable translating complex technical problems into simple, logical, and impactful executive-level presentations.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Engineering, Risk Management, or a related discipline.

Travel Requirement: Flexibility to travel up to 50%. You must be able to travel to the client site in Columbia, MO, every other week (Monday 8 AM through Thursday 5 PM CT, which may require Sunday evening travel).
