Job Description

Client builds and packages diesel and natural gas generators, including Tier 4 Final units, sub-base fuel tanks, enclosures and trailers. We sell to dealers, OEMs, retail and government customers across the US and Caribbean.

Production management

  • Run the daily and weekly production schedule set with the VP of Production; assign jobs, set priorities and hit ship dates
  • Plan labor, bays and equipment for each build: generator packaging, fuel tanks, enclosures, trailers and controls wiring
  • Review drawings, bills of materials and work orders before jobs start; flag missing parts or design issues early
  • Work with purchasing and inventory to keep parts and materials on hand; report shortages before they stop the line
  • Track every job's status in our ERP system and keep work orders, labor hours and material use accurate
  • Coordinate load bank testing, final inspection and shipping with logistics
  • Report weekly to the VP of Production on output, on-time delivery, backlog, labor hours and problems
  • Find and fix bottlenecks; improve layout, workflow and build times

People and team leadership

  • Lead, train and supervise shop technicians, assemblers, fabricators and helpers
  • Hold a short start-of-shift meeting covering priorities, safety and yesterday's problems
  • Approve timecards, schedule shifts and overtime, and manage attendance
  • Interview and help hire shop staff with the VP of Production; onboard and train new hires
  • Cross-train the team so each job has more than one person who can do it
  • Give regular feedback, run performance reviews and handle discipline fairly and consistently
  • Build a shop culture of ownership, accountability and pride in the work

Quality, safety and shop operations

  • Enforce build standards, checklists and inspection points so every unit ships right the first time
  • Own final quality checks before load bank testing and shipment; track defects and rework and fix the root cause
  • Make sure builds meet customer specs and contract requirements, including FEMA and government orders
  • Run the shop safety program: PPE, lockout/tagout, forklift and crane use, welding, and fuel and battery handling
  • Keep the shop compliant with OSHA rules; lead safety training and investigate any incident or near miss
  • Keep the shop clean and organized (5S), with tools and equipment maintained and calibrated
  • Schedule preventive maintenance on shop equipment, cranes, forklifts and welders
  • Write and update standard work instructions for repeat builds

Growth opportunities

We are growing, and this role grows with us.

  • Build the team: we are adding technicians and bringing fuel tank and trailer fabrication in-house, so you will help shape and staff the expanding shop
  • Clear path up: strong performers can move to Production Manager or Operations Manager as the company grows
  • Shape new products: work on Tier 4 Final diesel, large natural gas generators and custom packages for government and OEM customers
  • Paid training and certifications: OSHA 30, leadership training, ERP and lean manufacturing
  • Direct access to leadership: work closely with the VP of Production and the CEO
  • Performance reviews with raises and bonus potential tied to on-time delivery, quality and safety

Required

  • 5+ years in industrial generator, engine or heavy equipment manufacturing, assembly or service
  • 2+ years supervising a shop or production team
  • Hands-on knowledge of diesel and natural gas engines, alternators, transfer switches and generator controls
  • Able to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and bills of materials
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety rules in a fabrication or assembly shop
  • Comfortable with computers: email, Excel and ERP or work-order systems
  • Clear communication in English, written and verbal

Preferred

  • Experience with Tier 4 Final engines, paralleling switchgear or load bank testing
  • Welding or fabrication background (tanks, enclosures, trailers)
  • OSHA 30, EGSA technician certification or similar
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Lean manufacturing or 5S experience

  • Salary: approximately $70,000–$90,000 depending on experience (approximate; confirm against current South Florida postings)
  • Performance bonus tied to on-time delivery, quality and safety

Benefits:
