Lease Accounting Manager

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Lease Accounting Manager to lead lease accounting operations and technical accounting compliance for a well-established, multi-location organization. This is a high-visibility opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional with deep knowledge of ASC 842, a passion for process improvement, and the ability to partner with stakeholders across multiple business units.

The ideal candidate brings a combination of technical accounting expertise, hands-on lease accounting experience, and leadership skills to support accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical research, interpretation, and application of ASC 842 lease accounting standards and other applicable accounting frameworks.


• Oversee the full lease lifecycle, including new lease onboarding, modifications, renewals, expirations, and terminations.


• Manage the lease accounting system and lease database, ensuring data integrity and accurate financial reporting.


• Review and approve monthly lease accounting journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and lease roll forwards.


• Prepare and review lease-related financial disclosures for quarterly and annual reporting.


• Serve as the subject matter expert for lease accounting matters, providing guidance to corporate and property-level accounting teams.


• Partner with internal stakeholders and external auditors to support audits, resolve technical accounting questions, and meet reporting deadlines.


• Identify discrepancies and analyze lease-related financial data to ensure accuracy and consistency across multiple locations.


• Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and standardized workflows.


• Lead process improvements and support system enhancements, special projects, and ad hoc financial analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.


• Active CPA license required.


• Master’s degree in Accounting or a related field strongly preferred.


• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on ASC 842 lease accounting expertise.


• Strong preference for candidates with Big Four public accounting experience.


• Experience with LeaseQuery or a comparable lease accounting software platform is highly desirable.


• Strong understanding of technical accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and internal controls.


• Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.


• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex accounting matters to financial and non-financial stakeholders.


• Ability to manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
