Business Operations Coordinator
Independent Contractor (1099) | Primarily Remote | Raleigh, NC Area
Position Overview
Ironbridge Risk Advisory is seeking a highly organized and dependable Business Operations Coordinator to assist with the firm’s day-to-day operations and help maintain business continuity during planned or unexpected absences of the Owner/Risk Advisor.
A central responsibility of this role is developing and maintaining a working knowledge of the organization, including its clients, business relationships, systems, schedules, procedures, and active priorities. During normal operations, the Coordinator will help organize ongoing work, coordinate communications, track deadlines, maintain records, assist with routine servicing, and ensure matters receive timely attention.
During Owner/Risk Advisor absences, the Coordinator will help maintain essential operations by monitoring communications, addressing routine matters within established authority, coordinating with appropriate parties, and escalating issues requiring advisory or other specialized involvement. This role combines administrative coordination, operational support, and continuity planning within a boutique insurance and risk advisory firm.

Engagement Details
This is an independent contractor (1099) engagement. The routine time commitment will typically be less than ten hours per week, depending upon business needs. Additional involvement and availability may be required during planned or unexpected absences of the Owner/Risk Advisor.
Services will be performed primarily remotely following an initial onboarding period. The contractor must be able to commute to Raleigh, NC, approximately once per month after onboarding. More frequent in-person attendance will be required during onboarding, with the schedule established by mutual agreement.
During normal operations, responses to client and business communications are expected within four hours during normal business hours. During planned or unexpected absences of the Owner/Risk Advisor, responses are expected within two hours or less during normal business hours.
Compensation will be structured as a fixed monthly retainer that is highly competitive relative to the anticipated time commitment. The retainer recognizes the Coordinator’s ongoing familiarity with the organization, professional judgment, responsiveness, and readiness to maintain essential business operations. It compensates for both routine services and the availability necessary to support business continuity. Retainer terms will be established based on qualifications, scope of responsibilities, and agreed-upon availability. The engagement agreement will define coverage expectations and the treatment of additional services required during Owner/Risk Advisor absences.
This opportunity may appeal to a professional seeking meaningful responsibility and a limited routine time commitment, with a primarily remote arrangement that offers flexibility alongside family responsibilities.
The contractor will be responsible for applicable taxes and other obligations associated with self-employment. A separate independent contractor agreement will establish the scope of services, compensation, confidentiality requirements, normal business hours, availability, authority limits, and other engagement terms.
