Director of Accounting and Finance

Director of Accounting and Finance | Charlotte, NC | Up to $175k + Bonus

A growing project‑driven organization is seeking a Director of Accounting and Finance to lead financial operations and partner closely with senior leadership. This Director of Accounting and Finance role blends project finance, corporate finance, forecasting, cash‑flow management, and team leadership — and offers a clear, accelerated path to CFO for a high‑performing finance leader.

Key Responsibilities

• The Director of Accounting and Finance will oversee project financial performance, job cost analysis, WIP, margin reviews, and budget‑to‑actual reporting


• Lead cash‑flow forecasting, working‑capital management, AR, AP, billing, and collections


• Own annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, long‑term financial planning, and scenario modeling


• Manage monthly close, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, and compliance


• Develop and lead the Finance & Accounting team; improve systems and reporting


• As the future CFO, the Director of Accounting and Finance will support banking, credit facilities, bonding/surety, insurance, and risk management


• Partner with senior leadership on financial modeling and strategic decision‑making

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field


• 10+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience


• 5+ years leading finance/accounting teams


• Strong project‑based finance background (EPC, construction, project controls, etc.)


• Deep understanding of cash flow, working capital, budgeting, and financial reporting


• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Preferred

• Experience in construction, renewable energy, or infrastructure


• CPA, MBA, or similar credential


• Experience with construction ERP/project‑management systems

Compensation & Benefits

Up to $175,000 base salary + bonus, comprehensive benefits, and a hybrid schedule based in Charlotte, NC
