Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced full time Director of Nursing to join our team to support the whole program. The position plays a key role in supporting the leadership and administration of the Practical Nursing (PN) program. Working under the direction of the President of PITC , the Director assists in the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the program. The position ensures alignment with state and national accreditation standards while fostering academic excellence, student success, and effective faculty engagement.
The Director of Nursing is essential to the effective delivery and continuous improvement of the Practical Nursing program. The role requires a detail-oriented and proactive professional committed to maintaining high academic standards, supporting student success, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Coordination & Curriculum Management:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing review of the Practical Nursing curriculum to ensure compliance with state regulations and accreditation requirements.
- Support the alignment of course content, instructional methods, and assessment strategies with program objectives.
- Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on performance data and feedback.
- Maintain accurate academic records, course outlines, and curriculum documentation.
Faculty and Staff Supervision:
- Coordinate and support faculty scheduling, workload distribution, and instructional delivery.
- Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of nursing faculty and clinical instructors.
- Monitor faculty performance and provide feedback in collaboration with the Practical Nursing Director.
- Facilitate professional development opportunities and training for faculty and staff.
Student Success and Engagement:
- Monitor student academic progress, attendance, and performance within the PN program.
- Provide guidance and support to students to enhance retention, progression, and successful program completion.
- Address student concerns, grievances, and academic challenges in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate student orientation sessions, academic advising, and support services.
Accreditation and Compliance:
- Ensure that all program activities adhere to state board requirements and accreditation standards.
- Assist in preparing documentation, reports, and evidence required for accreditation reviews and audits.
- Maintain compliance with institutional policies, clinical requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives within the program.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Establish and maintain relationships with clinical partners, healthcare facilities, and community stakeholders.
- Coordinate clinical placements and ensure appropriate supervision of students during clinical practice.
- Represent the Practical Nursing program in meetings, events, and community outreach initiatives.
- Support partnerships that enhance learning opportunities and employment pathways for graduates.
Administrative Support & Reporting:
- Assist in setting program goals, benchmarks, and key performance indicators related to student success and retention.
- Prepare regular reports on program outcomes, faculty performance, and student progress.
- Maintain accurate records related to student enrollment, clinical hours, and program completion.
- Support budgeting and resource planning activities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Master's degree in Nursing, Education, or a related field will be an advantage.
- Experience with accreditation processes and curriculum development.
- Valid nursing license/registration as per regulatory authority.
- Minimum 5-7 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 3-5 years in an academic or supervisory role.
- A highly motivated, well-organized and self-disciplined individual capable of working effectively with general directions and little face-to-face supervision.
- Top-notch organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to initiate, prioritize, and meticulously follow through on plans.
- Ability to "manage up" by understanding leadership styles, anticipating the needs, ability to balance big-picture thinking and proactively orchestrating next steps with strong organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments, and meet aggressive deadlines, frequently balancing multiple priorities.
