ROLE SUMMARY
The Optometrist will provide comprehensive eye care services including routine vision exams, medical optometry, and ocular disease management while delivering an exceptional patient experience aligned with Appleseed Eyecare's mission and values. This role offers the opportunity to practice in a private, family-owned environment with strong clinical support, modern technology, and the ability to influence operations and patient care initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clinical Care - Perform comprehensive eye examinations including vision testing, refractions, and ocular health evaluations.
- Diagnose and treat ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, preventative care, and vision health.
- Patient Experience - Build long-term patient relationships through compassionate, personalized care.
- Maintain high patient satisfaction and retention.
- Practice Collaboration - Work closely with technicians and support staff (assistant support provided during exams.)
- Provide input into practice operations and clinical processes.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
- Within 90 days: Become fully integrated into Appleseed Eyecare's clinical workflows, technology, and patient care processes while building strong relationships with staff and patients. Demonstrate adaptability and strong communication within the team environment.
- Within 6 months: Independently manage a full patient schedule while delivering strong clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction. Become proficient across the full scope of services offered and contribute to patient retention.
- Within 12 months: Establish yourself as a trusted provider within the practice through consistent clinical performance and strong patient relationships. Contribute to practice growth through quality care and referrals.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree required
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in Indiana
- 2+ years of experience preferred (open to new graduates)
- Strong patient relationship skills
- Team-oriented mindset
- Interest in contributing to a growing private practice
