OverviewHorton, Inc. has an opening for a Commodity Manager. This role is open at either our Roseville, MN or Westminster, SC location. This is an onsite role Monday-Friday.
Position Summary:
The Commodity Manager is a strategic procurement leader responsible for defining and executing multi-year global commodity strategies that maximize value, reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and protect supply continuity. In this role, you will oversee the full sourcing lifecycle-from market dynamics analysis, spend segmentation, and RFQ execution to high-stakes contract negotiation and risk management. Serving as a key liaison across manufacturing, operations, and leadership, you will cultivate high-value supplier partnerships, manage supplier relationship management frameworks, and leverage market intelligence to optimize portfolio performance.

Responsibilities Commodity Manager Responsibilities:
- Define and execute multi-year global/regional commodity strategies, establishing sourcing levers, implementation of roadmaps, and projected financial benefits aligned with business objectives.
- Expand and optimize the Approved Supplier List (ASL) using spend segmentation, supplier capability mapping, and portfolio rationalization.
- Evaluate commodity maturity, cost drivers, market dynamics, and spend data to identify strategic sourcing opportunities and benchmark competitiveness.
- Drive cross-functional initiatives to reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) through strategic supplier partnerships, volume bundling, and design optimization.
- Deliver annual cost-saving and productivity goals utilizing price negotiations, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), and continuous improvement projects.
- Establish and oversee the Supplier Relationship Management framework, holding suppliers accountable to strict Delivery, Quality, Cost, and Innovation targets.
- Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and executive supplier summits; maintain comprehensive supplier profiles, scorecards, and risk matrices.
- Foster strategic supplier partnerships to enhance operational alignment, drive mutual value, and support organizational growth.
- Manage vendor selection and procurement processes, negotiate contract terms, and oversee agreements to drive value and ensure compliance.
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate supply chain vulnerabilities, including financial health, capacity bottlenecks, geographic exposure, and regulatory compliance.
- Partner closely with manufacturing plants and operations teams to monitor supplier capacity and proactively prevent supply disruptions.
- Act as the primary liaison to resolve critical material shortages, quality issues, or operational bottlenecks rapidly.
- Monitor global market trends, raw material indices, and macroeconomic factors to forecast cost fluctuations and advise leadership on market shifts.

- Hands-on experience with modern ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced analytics or AI-driven costing tools.
- Industry recognized certifications such as APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or ISM (CPSM) are highly desirable.
Additional Information:
The estimated hiring range for this position is $100,000-$130,000 per year plus bonus. Compensation will increase within the range based on experience and qualifications and geography.
