Position Summary

The Host welcomes guests to Barberry and manages reservations, seating, and the flow of the dining room. This position provides the first and final impression of many guests' visits.

Guest Welcome & Reservations

• Greet arriving guests warmly and confirm reservations, party sizes, and special requests.
• Answer calls and reservation inquiries accurately and professionally.
• Maintain the reservation book, waitlist, and guest notes in the designated system.
• Give honest wait-time estimates and keep guests informed of changes.
• Thank departing guests and respond to routine questions or concerns.

Seating & Service Coordination

• Maintain an accurate floor plan and track table status throughout service.
• Seat guests according to availability, party size, and server rotation.
• Communicate celebrations, allergies, VIP notes, and seating requests to the service team.
• Coordinate with managers and servers to manage table turns and seating pace.
• Keep the entrance, host stand, menus, and waiting area clean and ready.

Standards & Conduct

• Protect guest information and use discretion with reservation notes.
• Remain welcoming and composed during busy arrival periods.
• Escalate seating conflicts or guest concerns when management support is needed.

Qualifications

• Hosting, reservations, hotel, or guest-service experience preferred.
• Warm hospitality and strong communication skills.
• Ability to stay organized while managing arrivals, calls, and seating.
• Comfort learning a reservation system and dining-room floor plan.
• Strong attention to detail when recording and sharing guest information.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when necessary
• Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Reports To: F&B Manager and designated shift leadership.
