Director of Finance & Accounting - Up to $150,000

A well-established, mission-driven senior living community in Columbia, MD is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to join its leadership team. • Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 (target range $140K–$150K)
• Bonus: Up to 5% (eligible beginning next fiscal year)

The Director of Finance & Accounting is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, reporting, and compliance. This Director of Finance & Accounting will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and provide strategic financial insight to leadership and the Board.

• Lead monthly and year-end close processes
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Review payroll processes (prepared by Staff Accountant)
• Manage audit preparation and external audit process
• Present financial reports to Executive leadership and Board
• Oversee 401(k) and 403(b) administration (loans, rollovers, compliance)
• Maintain and enhance policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Partner with operational leadership to support decision-making

• Reports directly to Executive Director
• Dotted-line reporting to Board of Directors
• Manages:
  • Staff Accountant
  • Medicare/Medicaid Consultant
• Systems: Lawson ERP, UKG Pro Payroll

The successful Director of Finance & Accounting will bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• CPA strongly preferred
• 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
• Experience in senior living, healthcare, nonprofit, or similar environments (preferred)
• Proven leadership and people management experience
• Strong presentation skills with ability to engage executive leadership and Board members
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Financial reporting and close processes
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Audit management
  • Payroll oversight
  • Retirement plan administration

• 100% on-site in Columbia, MD
