Position Summary and Requirements

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-focused care and overseeing all operations within the unit or department during their assigned shift. Working alongside other management team members, the CNC directs, monitors, and assesses nursing care in line with established policies and procedures. They serve as a resource for staff and exemplify a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values, thereby enhancing patient experiences and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental success.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
  • Engaging in continuous assessment of the quality of patient care services in collaboration with the management team.
  • Working with subject matter experts and fellow managers to foster a collaborative environment that enhances outcomes and service quality.
  • Promoting a patient-first philosophy and participating in service recovery when necessary.
  • Implementing current nursing strategies to boost engagement, including employee rounding and hourly check-ins.
  • Providing input on the recruitment, selection, and training of new staff, as well as recommending actions related to training, conflict resolution, and performance evaluations.
  • Assisting with staff scheduling and managing labor in accordance with patient care needs and productivity standards.
  • Overseeing inventory control and assisting with the management of supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of starting employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification must be obtained within 90 days of starting employment.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses or Trauma Nursing Core Course certification must be obtained within 6 months of starting employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in nursing.
